Listings FAQs

How do I add a site to the DWS Internet Directory ?

Only registered members can submit listings. You can choose between Member or Sponsor Member accounts:

The Member account is Free:
- Can submit maxim 1 "Free Listing" valid for Lifetime.
- Can submit Unlimited paid "Premium Listings", valid for 1 year.

The Sponsor Member account:
- Can submit Unlimited "Free Listings" valid for Lifetime.
- Can submit Unlimited paid "Premium Listings" for Free, valid for Lifetime.

You can get started by signing up for your Free Membership or for Sponsor Membership for a small tax:
- Do a quick search in the DWS Internet Directory, by typing a domain (eg. "example.com") or keywords (eg. link title) in the "Search" search box, to be sure your site isn't already listed. This saves everyone time.
- Identify the single best category for your site. You should submit a site to the single most relevant category. Sites submitted to inappropriate or unrelated categories may be rejected or removed.
- Once you've selected the best category for your site, go directly to that category on Directory and then click "Submit Listing" at the bottom of the category page. Follow the instructions on the submission form carefully. Descriptions of sites should describe the content of the site concisely and accurately. They should not be promotional in nature.

Procedure After Your Site is Submitted:
- An DWS Internet Directory editor will review your submission to determine whether to include it in the directory. Depending on factors such as the volume of submissions to the particular category, it may take 24 - 48 hours for Premium Listing while for Free Listings it may take several months.
- Please only submit a URL to the Directory once because multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites. Disguising your submission and submitting the same URL more than once is not permitted.

How do I edit my live sites ?

You may edit your existing directory content while your listing is live.

- Log in to your DWS Internet Directory Account.
- Select "Member Home" from "My Account".
- Click on the "Edit" function of the listing you wish to edit.
- In Edit Page, at the bottom, click on the "Delete Listing" function if you wish to delete this listing.
- Make your changes to the listing.
- Select "Save Change" button.

An DWS Internet Directory editor will review your link to determine whether to include or delete it in the directory.

How long does it take for my site to be listed in the DWS Internet Directory ?

- Depending on the activity level of the editors, it may take up to 24 hours for your site to be reviewed, only for Premium Listing and Sponsor Member while for Free Listings it may take several months. While the DWS Internet Directory is comprehensive in scope and coverage, we care a great deal about the quality of the Directory, and pride ourselves on being highly selective.
- We don't accept all sites, so please don't take it personally should your site not be accepted. Our goal is to make the Directory as useful as possible for our users, not to have the directory include all of the sites that could possibly be listed or serve as a promotional tool for the entities listed.

Who do I ask for help regarding my site and getting it listed in the proper category ?

- If after searching the array of subject categories, you are still unsure as to where you should submit your site, your best bet would be to submit your site to the category you think best reflects the content on your site.
- The editors have the ability to move your site to a different category, or create a new one, should there be a need.

Does the Directory have an express submit service that will get my site listed quicker ?

The DWS Internet Directory have paid express service (24 - 48 hours) similar to other commercial directories for Sponsor Member and Premium Listing.

- First, follow the submission guidelines carefully.
- A well-written, thoughtful submission has a greater chance of getting reviewed sooner than a sloppy, careless one.
- For Sponsor Member, Premium and Free Listing we do not, however, recommend submitting your site to many different categories in hopes that one or two will end up being listed. This will not get your site listed quicker, and may in fact significantly delay processing. This may be interpreted as spam, which could result in your site not getting listed at all.

How long does it take for my site to show up in a search engine ?

Once your site is listed in the DWS Internet Directory, it may take up to 1 month or more for your site to appear on any of the search engines.

What is Bump or Autobump ?

In "My Account" menu you have a "Bumps" option at the bottom of it.

- Click this to get to the bumps management interface, which displays all your listings sorted by newest first.
- You can check a bunch of boxes and hit the bump button to manually bump your listings.
- In the bottom listing you can choose to set autobumps -- when autobumping is set on a listing, the listing will be bumped back to the top every 24 hours for 7 days. After 7 bumps, a listing can no longer be bumped any further.

How do I write a review for a listing?

All listing cards and all listings details page have the Rating or Review button at the bottom. Press the Rating or Review button and you will be directed to the Review and Rating Page.

Other FAQs

What is the "Report" button ?

- The "Report Listing" button allows to report links (e.g., listing does not load, listing violates the rules, etc.) to webmaster, who receives reports via email.
- This is very important for us because it helps us to fix errors for listings.

What is the "Save" button ?

The "Save" button allows to save favourite listings. You can delete and visit his saved listings in "My Account --> Saved Listings".

What is the " Subscribe" button ?

The "subscriptions" enables options to receive emails notifications of updates from category or listing.
In "Edit Profile" page you can choose at "Subscription Notification Frequency" between Daily Digest or Weekly Digest.
You can find a Subscribe button under any Category at bottom of the page or on a Listing's Detail at top of the page.

- Once you subscribe to a category, any new subcategory it publishes will show up in your "My Account --> Subscriptions" page.
- Once you subscribe to a listing, any new listing edit it publishes will show up in your "My Account --> Subscriptions" page.
- You can Unsubscribe under any Category at bottom of the page or on a Listing's Detail at top of the page. Also you can Unsubscribe in "My Account --> Subscriptions" page.

Troubleshooting

How do I reset my password for DWS Internet Directory ?

Forgetting a password is more common than you might think! Here is an easy way to get back on track:

- Click "Login" page.
- Select the "I Forgot my Password" button.
- Enter your email address and select Reset Password. An email will be sent the email address you have on file. Follow the directions in this email to reset your password.

If you need to change your password:

- Log into your Account.
- Edit your password in "Edit Profile" page and click Save button.

I can't log in Directory - what do I do ?

Have you tried clearing your cache ?

- If not, clear it, close your browser and try again or Ctrl-F5 or refresh your browser.
- If this doesn't work, try logging in with a different browser. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera are a few browser options that you may try.
- If you continue to experience difficulties, contact our Member Support team. If it is our error, we'll get it addressed immediately.
- If you have not checked the email sent upon registration and have not submit a listing within 24 hours of registering your account, the system will automatically delete your account.

I don't see the review for a listing !

An DWS Internet Directory editor will edit your review to determine whether to include or delete it in the directory. If your comment has approved you will see in a few days.

I can't use the "Guest" button on the bottom page !

Only registered users can see and use "User's Account" button in bottom page.
